Helping a Stranger with a Strange Problem

I spend Sunday afternoons at a beautiful arts centre while S (my wife) teaches kid's how to make comics. I set my self up at the kitchen table that looks over the river and spend my time reading or tinkering around with computer things and mostly don't interact with anyone.

Today was a bit different, later in the afternoon when it was starting to get darker and the rain was really bucketing down I hear a knock on the back door. Curious, I opened the wooden door and see behind the security door a very well dressed lady wearing an Italian style pant suit awkwardly holding something in front of her.

She asks me if I have a bag she could use, and that's when I finally parse what she's holding. It's a wet paper KFC bag that is falling apart and barely containing whatever is inside it. I tell her there might be something she can use and let her in. She's quite embarrassed and explains that her fake Louis Vuitton bag got wet in the rain and the blue dye started to run and she needed something better than the KFC bag to get it home. We look around and the best we can come up with is a roll of bubble wrap, we tear off an adequate quantity to wrap the bag, she securely wraps it with her dye stained fingers and thanks me before heading back out into the rain.

Truly a bizarre encounter, but I'm pleased I could help.
